Delco Radio interchangeability

I needed to swap out my AM/FM cassette on my '98 suburban and I found a AM/FM CD Delco radio that looked close to identical. The radio was out of a '98 Blazer. After I got the old one out I discovered that the mount was different but I was pleasantly surprised (for once). The Suburban uses two rails on the sides of the radio to slide in place where as the Blazer just had the two ears to screw in. Anyway, I noticed the rails were attached to the bottom plate so I swapped the bottom from my existing radio to the Blazer radio and all the screw holes matched up. I would say "never before in GM history" but I'm sure someone will tell me different.

Just thought I would drop the line.

One small problem is that my old AM/FM Cassette had the remote CD player that mounts under the A/C controls. The wiring harness does fit the new radio but the remote CD doesn't function (other than to swallow a CD). Eject doesn't work. I thought I might have had a dual CD player with the new Blazer radio but apparently, it wasn't that easy.

Any idea on how to get the CD out if the eject doesn't do it? I really want that Best of April Wine CD

Re: Delco Radio interchangeability

Try disconnecting the battery for a bit & then reconnect it.
Most the time this will eject the cd.

But it sounds like the remote cd player still has power & should eject.

Re: Delco Radio interchangeability

Yes-Strange-It sucked the CD in fast enough. The unit worked fine with the old radio. I'll try the battery disconnect.

Thanks for the reply.
