top gear show- 83 stepside

just watched the rerun of the topgear episode where the 83 chevy stepside diesel-NOT(350 swap) defeated the Alaska wilderness and a Ford & Dodge. I guess my fav part was where he ran over Rutledges log cabin 'camper' and kept on going. CLASSIC episode. crossy

Seen that one a while back, it was a nice one for the bowties! The hood kept bouncing open he was treating it so bad... but the ol' gal kept on going.

Re: top gear show- 83 stepside

The ford held its own tell a u joint snapped if your going off road like that you should carry some extra parts to get you back home.I do love that most of the challenges they do adam has the oldest cars lol.The off road one that was a k5 a jeep and a bronco was funny too.

Re: top gear show- 83 stepside

I think the Ford would have been a close comparison. I would have loved to see them go head to head if both had new u-joints. That was due to a 35 year old u-joint finally breaking, I don't blame that on the truck at all. When it's time, it's time.

Re: top gear show- 83 stepside

Re: top gear show- 83 stepside

I could be wrong, but I remember it going up the mountain or something and all of a sudden it quit moving. He may or may not have hit a rock directly with the U-joint.
