Re: big block upgrade
We bolted a 454 into a 1970 gmc 1/2 ton. Our truck has a 4 speed tranny the only mod we had to make were to the header on the drivers side too clear the clutch shaft. It bolted right in, including using the small block frame mounts.

Re: big block upgrade
We put a '74 in front of a SM-465 in my '71 lwb stepper using the engine mounts that came with the 454 without a problem other than we had to modify the clutch bracket on the frame.

Re: big block upgrade
Exhaust manifolds or headers, cooling, pulleys and brackets if you don't have them, mounts, 454 is externally balanced so would need a different flexplate or flywheel. It can add up fast.

Re: big block upgrade
Keep in mind the additional weight will effect your ride height.

Re: big block upgrade
what he said^^^^ i had lowering springs and a small block. I put a big block in and the truck settled another 2 inches, destroying my bumstops in the process
