Big block shroud.

Why would anyone feel the need to do this to a perfectly good shroud?

Re: Big block shroud.

So they could put it in the truck without taking the fan off?
You ought to see the cobbed-up motor setup in my slant back, wrong mounts, wrong radiator, wrong shroud, cobbed-up wireing, linkage etc., cobb, cobb, cobb.
luckily I have all the correct stuff to fix it but damit man, do it right the first time.
Sorry...I went off there for a minute.

Re: Big block shroud.

By all means, please go off all you want, i feel the same way, damn do it right.

Funny thing about the shroud is, i tried to get it out without removeing the rad, but untill i pulled everythig off and could lay the rad support forward, it would not come out. I don't know if maybe the fan came off and destroyed it, so they just cut it off, i'm not sure. Its still got a great top section, and is still usable. So i'll add it to the other 3 i have. lol

Re: Big block shroud.

I had a similar looking shroud come in on a factory bbc burb that had been converted to sbc at some point, given the motor position and fan combo the oe bbc shroud had been clearanced/molested. On two other occasions I have purchased factory big block trucks minus motors where the upper mounting ears of the bbc shroud were just cut off to remove it to get at the motor. Both trucks were purchased by muscle car gents that were only after the bb motors, I remember telling the first guy that he must have been in some kind of hurry and then the second time I came accross this same type of butcher job was less than a year later and I told this guy its kinda like wiping your a** with a hundred dollar bill . Some guys should not own or have access to power tools! Mel

Re: Big block shroud.

Just sold one for $129 on ebay. What a waste of a valuable part.
