Re: Feedback on taking off cat..
Well for one if you are in Ca you can't legally take the cat off especially on a vehicle that has to be smogged in Cali most pre smog vehicles didn't have them there are a few exceptions like my 76 never had them from the factory and it is atleast twice as loud as my Blazer but it also has dual exhaust but almost every Chevy/GMC truck after 76 had them. my opinion would be to get a CARB approved high flow cat

Doesn't have to be loud to get a fix-it-ticket. Any reason they pull you over, they can take a look under and bam! Oh, in case you didn't hear, CA fix-it-tickets when up to $100 to $150 this year. Thanks CA!

Re: Feedback on taking off cat..
I'd be hogging out the cat and leaving the shell in it's place. Save up for a new cat in the meantime. If a cop decides to be picky and takes a look the cat is still where it needs to be.

Re: Feedback on taking off cat..
I agree this is probably your best option until you can afford a new cat

Re: Feedback on taking off cat..
Does your burb have the big, flat cat or a round one? The big flat ones were just a catalyst bed and didnt really offer that much restriction.

California BLOWS. In this part of the coutry, if it rolls it's legal. Don't they make a "bypass" pipe? I know they used to.

Re: Feedback on taking off cat..
im probbaly gunna end up jus hoggin the dumbass thing out, after looking at it closer to answer Blackhills question and it looks like a cat from a frickin 4 banger! crazy right? so i think the best option is to just hog it out, and later get a better one . i know they still make straight through pipes.. they have to right? im going to check up on that, i letcha know what i find.
