Pro Street tires/wheels
Hey, where does a guy shop for Pro-Street tires and wheels. I'm looking for MT street radials 29-15 x 20's rear 18's up front with Foose, Crager, etc. Wheels. Are there tire shops that display these set ups?

Re: Pro Street tires/wheels
You probably won't find a local shop that will have that stuff on display because that wheel/tire combination costs a pile of money just have sitting the shelf and only appeal to a very limited client base. I think the internet might be the only option.
If you haven't priced them yet, you might be in for a shock. On any rim diameter over 17", when you go from a 10" wide to say, a 12" or 14", the price will more than double per wheel. But, if you've been researching this, you already know that. I have a buddy who's building a Pro Street truck for his son, and the 20" rear wheels and tires were nearly $3000 by themselves. The funny part is that the kid is still in high school and would rather have a Civic, but his dad runs a well-known race car chassis shop and is building a truck instead.

Re: Pro Street tires/wheels
Yeah, I'd like to actually see what I'm buying (brick&mortar). Pro-Street: I'm doing what I believe is called a mini tub rear (20x15" MT street radials w/18x8's up front). I live in a small town but have access to SF or Sacramento. There must be shops that display a few set ups like this to look at?

Re: Pro Street tires/wheels
Chevyrestoguy,
I had come to that conclusion after searching myself, but was hopeful hat maybe a speed-shop like Vic Hubbards might stock something. I'm gonna start going to some shows like Good Guys, might find a vendor there or even something slightly used. Good story about your buddies kid/truck build. Sounds all to familiar. I brought home a work truck motor (350 medium duty 4 bolt main) one day and told my son "we're going to build you your first car". He decided on a 71' Chevelle. 2 years later with a beautiful Cortez Silver / black SS striped, 383 solid lifter stroked, Corvette Z06 wheels, shock wave suspension, Willwood disks all around, etc. Etc. Etc. He became dissatisfied with some of the old mans ideas and the car got sold almost completed to a buddy. But the story doesn't end badly. He took the money and bought his first house! So like you said this pu project is for ME. It's a 63' SWB big window truck that I found in Santa Maria, CA. No engine or trans, started as a rat rod, but I saved it. I'm hopeful to come to terms w/a local guy who's got my dream motor and trans. 69' Vette 427 400 hp (3-2's)' even has the original tri-power air cleaner. Posted via Mobile Device |

If you're up in Sacramento stop into Tognotti's on the corner of Fulton & El Camino and they should have something in stock to touch and feel. |

Hey Harley....thanks! You'd almost have to be from Sonora to know about Randy's. I never thought of them! Where's Plumas Lake?
Yeah, maybe Tognottis would have a few manufactures of wheels to look at. Rick Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Pro Street tires/wheels
Those look like the "Greg Weld Designs" brand wheel developed with Greg and Boyd Jr. (after the sale of Weld Racing to American Racing. Not the same as 'Weld Wheel'). When Greg Weld died the patent and all remaining inventory was sold to Racestar Industries.
http://www.racestarindustries.com/ Be advised that the Greg Weld Design/Racestar wheels require you to run their lugnuts. You can not run "normal" lug nuts and washers on these wheels! You can get 2 15"X5" & 2 15"X12" wheels for about $800 which isn't too bad. Last edited by blackedoutharley; 12-11-2011 at 09:53 PM. |

Re: Pro Street tires/wheels
I had planned on running 20's & 18's, they don't offer either size. Thanks for the lead. NiCe looking wheels at a fair price too. As an example a 20x15 Foose wheels sells for over $1200! And then add one MT Street Radial at $400. So round numbers $3200 just for the rear. The wife's gonna have a cow!

Re: Pro Street tires/wheels
The other issue you will have is finding a 20" tire big enough for a 15" wide wheel.
I would think you're embarking on an expensive and frustrating journey. You can get 20"x15" Centerline wheels for under $900 each plus freight and they have an 18" matching front wheel. Assuming you're running 5x5" bolt circle. Last edited by blackedoutharley; 12-12-2011 at 01:12 AM. |

Re: Pro Street tires/wheels
Dino to the rescue ....Dude you can find everything online...i give up searching for stuff now and want to install a red phone at your house and one in my shop as a direct help line...lol..
I bought my first set of pro tires from a swap meet....killer deal I wish I would have bought my wheels there too. There were a ton of wheels and tire combos there for cheap that had never been ran before.

Re: Pro Street tires/wheels
I only know it because I had signed up to be a distributor for them at the SEMA show not knowing that the company I worked for was being sold (insert expletive here). Even had Greg and Boyd Jr. out for our open house.
