Is there an upgrade for heater motors?
The old heater motors are not that great. Has anyone got better ideas for stronger, better, quieter motors? Do the switches make a difference?

Re: Is there an upgrade for heater motors?
I upgraded mine a while back. Blows like a madman. I think it was referenced in this thread:http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=166446.
I up the amps on the fuse as described.

Re: Is there an upgrade for heater motors?
I dunno how they could be better. I've been driving these trucks for 40 years and always felt the heaters work great. I can't count all the times people have ridden in one of my trucks and commented on how good the heat was. I can't tell you the last time I ever scraped my windshield. I just start it up and in no time even thick ice is off the windows. The heat in my '92 is what sucks. I always wondered if others felt the same. Can't keep the windshield clear of slush worth a squat.

Re: Is there an upgrade for heater motors?
I saw somewhere in heater threads about a blower motor that you can buy from Auto Zone that fits right in and requires a 20 amp fuse also.. no a/c. I bought one, around 26 bucks. I'm going to install it Sunday and will let you know what I think. My original motor still works and does heat up truck, although high speed seems like 2nd speed in newer autos so I'm just looking for a boost in speed. I'm also installing new gasket kit, new cables and a new heater resister while I'm there. That blower motor is a VDO part number PM102...As for the thread, they said it fits right in, I'm going to use my old fan.

Re: Is there an upgrade for heater motors?
Thanks for all the info,
I should have noted that I have heat but need more air flow. |
