Skid Plate Pic

I read a thread the other day about a factory skid plate. It had stated that his was riveted to the crossmember and others stated that theirs simply bolted to the two crossmembers(transfer and skidplate). Here is a pic of a "factory?" skidplate that I have on my lwb '68 model. I also looked at another '68 about two weeks ago that has the same skid plate. I doesn't connect to the transfer x-member at all and it is riveted to this crossmember.
What do y'all think?

Matthew

yours is factory for 67-69, 70-72 mounts under the transfer case and is bolted to 2 crossmembers. if my memory is correct, the 67-69 unit was mounted under the carrier bearing on longbed 4x4s.

jerry you are correct, the skidplate goes under the carrier bearing, and I think the skid plate they were talkin about before was an actual RPO code, this is stock (at least from what I've seen).

I have about a dozen of the later skid plates for sale. These are plates that I made to the factory measurements. 8" x 20 1/4" x 1/4" with the mounting holes and the large access hole.
$25.00 + ship if interested. These do not include the crossmember.
