Electric Heater

When I bought my 67 C-10, the A/C and Heater/Defroster was gutted out.
Do they make an electric heater/defroster that I can use until I can afford a new a/c, heater/defroster? Any help is appreciated. Happy Holidays

Hey bagger john.....watch the parts board for guys parting trucks...you could pick one up there, change out the heater core for pretty cheap...btw... to the boards from NC

I bought one of those, it doesn't put out very much heat.

Wal-Mart and most parts stores have them, they plug into a cig lighter. They do not put out a lot of heat though and I have used them only to defrost the windshield.

My buddy has an early version of this in his 59 GMC, and it cooks you out of the cab if you let it.

Can't say how good this new one works from JC Whitney, but it works on the same premise my friends works on (Engine coolant, and fan).

You can find old Arvin car heaters on ebay. I had one in my 56, worked great. I think it was 6 volts though, so you'd need to put it on a resistor. For as much trouble as you'll go though putting in something non-standard, you might as well hit the junk yard and get a factory setup.

I agree on the mojave heater, and here it is $10 cheaper than JC.

Thank you one and all for the information. It looks like I will be hitting the junk yards as I would like to have that original look and feel. I just have to find out what I need to look for. Once again, thank you for your help in making me decide.

I used a heated seat cushion that ran off cig. lighter in my 32 roadster on cold mornings.

I will say that after I bought a replacement cab for my rusty air cab, I ended up with the stuff that you probably need for your truck, that I removed from my air cab before I bit the bullet and got another cab. The stuff is out there, but I would rather have an aftermarket system if I was in your shoes. Much more compact and updated control systems.
