Waterpump bypass hose question???

My new BBC intake has only one 3/4 female fitting up front by the water-pump. I want to use that for my temp sender. My heads are aluminum and have no provisions for a sender either. The question is do I have to run the elbow(bypass hose) to the intake or can I just rely on the water-pump for circulation. I've seen BBC with electric pumps that don't use bypass hoses either. I just want to know so I don't subject my new engine to any damage.

My new Stewart BBC water pump has 2 ports right next to each other and the one I am replacing(dead) has 2 ports too. One port is used for the bypass hose to the intake. The other port is plugged. Does your water pump have 2 ports? If so, can't the temperature sensor go in there instead of the block or manifold?

My new waterpump has the same two holes too. I'm gonna use one to flow to the heater core and the other I think I'm gonna plug. I'm calling Pro-Filer performace to see if it's mandatory to run a bypass to their intake and heads. I've seen electric pumps used and no bypass used.
