I found a second blazer that has all (maybe, it definitely has most) of the parts I need to get mine done. It supposedly ran when it was parked, and I could probably drive it home with a battery and fresh gas. I need opinions on what I should offer the current owners to bring it home. A little about it: Ochre with Black double wall top. Rust in the drivers side rocker and in lower quarters behind both doors. 350/350/205 with 3.08 open diffs. No lift, tires still hold air, but unknown age. Complete black interior, but with tears in front seats and the rear panels are in poor shape. Has spare mount behind rear seat. All door/top hardware is there. The only thing I noticed missing was the rear hatch handle. Also has an old upright style (8274?) winch mounted in front of the bumper. Sorry, no pics, I spotted this thing peeking out of a barn while I was at work.

Very hard to tell without photos. How long has it been sitting? The gas lines and carb may be gummed up so getting it started may be more work than you think. Rust is like an iceberg – you can only see the tip of it and the rest is hidden.

I'm guessing the whole lower b-pillar area is gone if it's managed to work its way through the quarter panel. But I'm not too concerned with the tub itself after all the work I've done on mine. I know it's hard to make a good assessment without pics, but this thing is a good drive from my house, and if I go back it will be with a trailer to bring it home. I will say that it is the most original, complete blazer I've seen that the owners had even the slightest interest in selling. If I wasn't so deep into what I've already got, I would abandon mine and start over on this one.

How long has it been parked? Whenever they say it ran when parked I would always assume that it's not going to run and if it does that's a bonus. Those winches usually go for around $300. Without seeing it I would say start at $1500 and see what they say. Use the fact that it doesn't run to your advantage. A new motor will cost $2,500

. If they are adament that it runs have them prove it.

I second the $1500. Bought mine for $1300 in similar shape but it was a 307/330/D20 with a little more rust, and that was a few years ago. As mentioned, getting it to "run" was a bit of a challenge as mine had been parked for at least 4 years.

I bought a '72 on Saturday. I has new tires - 33.0x12.50x15 - a number of new parts, but it's been setting for a little over year. The front clip is in good shape, the quarters are pretty rough. It does not have a top with it. I paid $1,250.00 and hauled it home.

If it isn't advertised for sale then maybe make a lowball offer of $500-750 and see what happens. Just a thought.
