Thumbs up

You received a nice radio at a good price.

I need to find an original AM/FM that looks that good for my '70.

I know I won't get one for $30.

These suckers are heavy! It doesn't have any wiring in the back- just some plug in holes. I only want it to light up- do I just hook up a hot and a ground and call it good?

I'd say yes, looks in great shape, keep your eye out for some nice stainless knobs, it really sharpens them up

Just run the hot wire. It'll ground itself on the steel dash when installed.

You're not going to hook up speakers? That's a nice radio to let go to waste.

Randy-
Well I am going to get a new CD player and put it either in a console or maybe in the glovecompartment. I want good sound, but don't want to cut the dash. Yeah- I am thinking the stainless knobs would look cool!!

How much are those radios worth? I saw one in a suburban (or part of one I guess) near my house that they are going to crush soon. Should I try to go get it? The radio is still in nice shape.

Neonlarry- if it is in good shape I would go get it if I were you. I bought mine on ebay for 37 and paid 10 shipping- could get you a few bucks, or trade with someone who may want it.

Jamie- How did you hook up your CD in the console?? Is it okay to run a CD player upright instead of horizontal? Did you just run your wires under the carpet? Maybe some pics eh??

Heres a shot of the CD in the glovebox. I still need to tweak the ABS plastic trim plate I made.

70C10- that looks cool. Do you have to open your glovebox to turn the radio?? I don't really want to have to do that, so I am thinking about the console for a place for the CD player. Anyone have pics of CD players in their stock console??

It comes on when I turn on the key but I have to open it to adjust the volume. I had planned to use my remote control model but I let it go with my last truck. This has been sitting in the basement for a few years so I figured it was good enough for now. Besides you still have to open the door to use remote because the signal won't pass thru a heavy steel glovebox door.

and expensive radio delete --- thats what mine is....

i would like to see if i can hook up an AM/FM converter and use some aftermarket speakers to get some sound out of it... but realistically, i am planning to put in a nice hidden radio/CD player somewhere like under the dash, under the seat or in the glovebox.

good find!

blazin,
some cd players will let you mount them any angle, should say in the owners manual.
mine said not to mount it more than 30 degrees
so thats how i did,and yes i just ran the wires under the carpet in a small wire loom to the dash.
im going out of town i`ll try to post some pics sunday or monday.
