New Member with 69 C10 4x4-Axle Swap?
Just bought a "fixer-upper" 69 4x4 C10. First thing on my list is to lose the front drum brakes. This is a daily driver. Intentions are a restoration and average off road use. No rock crawling, towing huge toy haulers, etc.
I have access to a 85-87 era blazer (military version). It has disc brakes and "maybe" lower gears (4:10/4:56?) and a posi. Given my intended use, I think the corp 10 bolt would be plenty strong. Question: Would swapping both axles be a straight forward deal? I would gain much newer axles, open knuckles and disc brakes for no cost. I will be installing an injected 383 and a 700r4 if that matters. Thanks for the info. I'm glad to quit lurking and finally join the site. Mike |

I think that would be a perfect axle to swap for you. A 10 bolt would have disc brakes for sure. There might be a few items you have to change out, i.e. brake lines and maybe steering linkage. 99% would be a direct swap. You have to re-gear your rear axle if the gear ratio is different from the front. I would also suggest a LS swap instead of the 383 stroker. Good Luck!
