disk brake wheels...

I've been looking for a set of 71-87 K10 6 lug wheels steelies, not rallies), like FOREVER... Found a possible set in the classified ads section, gent selling them says they fit 67-84 Blazer and will fit disk brakes. Did 67 4x4 1/2 ton 6 lug wheels fit over disk brakes? (or, probably worded more appropriately - were the K10 4x4 6 lug wheels the same from 67-84??)

I thought the K10 wheels weren't disk brake wheels until 71-87 window?
Just wanted to check before I bugged the guy - he's already graciously answered a few other questions - but curious what the consensus is on these particular wheels...

Appreciate any help gents! Thanks.

Re: disk brake wheels...

They have to be the later 71-87 style wheel.

Re: disk brake wheels...

thanks lolife - that's what I thought - the ad cornfused me when it said "67-84" 4x4 wheels.... I don't think I'll risk it. Guess I could ask what they actually came off of and see what the seller says, because there really are two different wheels apparently (pre- 71 and 71 and later). If I buy them and they DO work with disk brakes, well, then I'll actually have to go get some disk brakes!!! And I'll be broke by the time Christmas is over anyways. But I was very curious - thanks for confirming (the correct years).

Re: disk brake wheels...

If they are attractively priced and hard to find, I'd be inclined to go check them out. If they have safety beads front and back, and the back side of the rim is a straight cylinder shape they will probably work. If the back of the rim has the tapered or conical shape, the risk they won't work goes up.

And just because they may have been on a 67, doesn't mean they are original to the truck. You might actually get lucky. They could turn out to be mis-identified later wheels.

Re: disk brake wheels...

jocko,... this is the style wheel you are looking for.
(I replied in the other thread also)

The later model 71-87 wheels are easily identified by the 4 "nubs" that hold the hubcap on.
The earlier (pre-'71) wheels,... that won't work with disc brakes,... only had three "nubs".
(some even had clips to to hold the hubcap on)
