1965 C-10 score of the day!

Ok, so I work in a scrap yard and today just before closing this rolled in ascross the scales. Purchase price $292.00, not too bad for a crusher vehicle.

V-8 engine, powerglide trans, Factory airconditioning (minus compressor and bracket), Auto Column, Custom Cab sail brackets, chrome around windshield, Had power assist steering ( still has bracket on frame ), Custom steering wheel, ash tray, . Lots of hard to find parts. Christmas came early!!!

Man, you amaze me with the stuff you come up with!!!! That truck has literally thousands dollars worth of parts on it. You could almost sell the ashtray for what you paid for the truck!!

Take a real close look at the engine, specifically the pullies. The A/C trucks had unique pullies, different from the non-A/C applications. Those things are nearly impossible to find. The condensor brackets and tubing are super hard to find also.

You did GREAT, sigshooter!

Thanks, It does NOT have the A/C pulleys left.... I do have a set on my 66 truck so I know what you are talking about. No condensor or tubing left.... no front clip left on it. Still very happy with what I got. I pulled the A/c dash Bezels and ash tray immediately and put them in my hoard of parts... one day I will start having to sell some of my stash.

Re: 1965 C-10 score of the day!

The Boss is a Chevy guy, Camaro nut......... We crushed a 1969 Mach I Mustang that came ascross the scales this week! It was Humble, about like this C-10 but still had lots of parts. A fork went thru the windshield and carried it right to the crusher...... even though it was a Ford, I hated to see it become flat. When This C-10 came in first words out of his mouth was "No, we aint keeping it". I think I have persuaded him otherwise.

Re: 1965 C-10 score of the day!

One of those dash AC vents just sold on ebay for almost $300. You've scored some really nice stuff. Great that you were able to save it from the crusher.

Re: 1965 C-10 score of the day!

Thanks for saving another! Excellent catch. You'll easily recoup the $292, and then some. And then some more. Wow, hard to believe that thing even made it to the crusher with the a/c dash vents still on it... Very cool, congrats.

Re: 1965 C-10 score of the day!

As Jocko mentioned it’s hard to believe it made it to the yard with all those trinkets still attached. Although to someone not involved in these trucks it probably just looks like so much junk. Great save. Thanks for sharing the story and the photos. That must have been a pretty nice truck before it was stripped. The cab and bed appear to remain in pretty good condition.

Re: 1965 C-10 score of the day!

Seller kept the chrome dash knobs ( headlight, cig lighter, choke, etc ) but left the rest. The parts will definately come off before it gets flat.

The cab is pretty rusty in the floor, and the bed is not that straight, Tailgate isn't bad though. The Gems are the Goodies I mentioned. The dash A/C bezel is perfect and original paint. nicer than the other two I have.

Re: 1965 C-10 score of the day!

I want factory air for my 66 shortbox and I never see these around Nebraska. All our farm trucks had open windows. Probably even has tinted glass in that air cab. Mark

Re: 1965 C-10 score of the day!

Quite a few Marlboros have been in that ashtray during all these years-look at the nicotine buildup. My 64 was the same way-nicotine will sure clog up 80 grit paper on a DA.

Great score.

Re: 1965 C-10 score of the day!

Man if I only had the money, I'd build a sanctuary for all the neglected collectible cars and trucks....Kinda like they do for all the exotic pets that people get and can't take care of. Great save and way to keep an eye out. You're keeping alot of hard to find parts and history in circulation. Hope you get all the good stuff off it!
