I'm the new owner of a 62 gmc suburban carryall. Now the fun begins. Where do I find the parts??? Metal, trim, and the tail light cover?? I'm from California and for some reason I've been googleing for parts and no luck! I've been enjoying all the threads. Now I come to you for help...plz. merry Xmas.

Re: new to 62 gmc suburban!

Welcome to the forum. I read in an earlier thread that Brother's Trucks sells suburban tail light lenses, but I don't find them listed in their online catalog. You might want to call and ask:

http://www.brotherstrucks.com/

For most parts unique to these trucks I normally buy from Classicparts (formerly Chevy Duty). They have best pricing, good quality and good service.

http://www.classicparts.com/default....FQ5lhwodV2YG4w

I have also purchased a few items from LMC but (IMHO ) they and Brothers and considerably more expensive than just about any of their competitors.

http://www.lmctruck.com/

There are other suppliers but Classicparts has such a good history I rarely need to go anywhere else.

And of course Ebay provides many of the original and rare parts.

And be sure to post pictures when you can, everybody here loves photos.

There is always Classic Industries and Year One, but they are pretty spendy too. Try National Parts Depot, and even The Truck Shop also.

Re: new to 62 gmc suburban!

Welcome to the forum

I prefer Classic Parts, myself, but I don't think they offer the tail light lenses. I bought a set of new lenses on ebay from a truck parts vendor. I'll have to see if I can find who it was.

I use www.allofcraigs.com all the time. It searches every CraigsList in the country. I've found most of the hard to find burb parts on there. Just check every few days for a while.

Re: new to 62 gmc suburban!

The ebay seller that I bought my Suburban lenses from is arrowheadtruckparts. I checked their ebay store and they don't have any listed. You might try contacting them and see if they have any lenses.

I don't know as the cab support rust issue is specific to Suburbans, as the trucks have that issue as well. I think it is more of a situation of the vehicle being driven year round in areas where there is snow and consequently de-icer is used. That is not the only cause of the rust issues, but salt and magchloride is very, very destructive to all metals.
