Heater/ AC alternatives

Has anyone adapted the heater/ac from a later model GM into a 55-59 cab when you are using an vortec engine with the ac compressor and hoses already there? Seems like the way to go if something would fit.

I too am interested.I am thinking some smaller cars may have pretty compact units.

from what i have read on older posts a bunch of people r doin that with ac units out the back of vans an burbs an such, an some have use the ac units that r in the middle console of some vehicles an puttin them inbetween there buckets, i am thinkin of usein one that comes out the back of the vans an stuff an do away with my hangon ac unit

I'm doing a 5.3 L with the factory a/c comp and Old Air evap, condenser and hoses on my 57. its a kit for the 55-9.

Now for the bold, back in the day a friend of mine installed a 69 Camaro a/c system in his 56 Cameo. Only had to mod the evap case to clear the hood hinge. It would freeze you out of the cab on 100+ days.
