Volare motor mount
Does,Anyone have plans for motor mounts ,for a volare front end in a 55-59 chevy pickup. Picture would be nice too. Dan

I have a '58 with the Volare K-member installed. The engine mounts happen to be very visible right now since I have the frame stripped and mounted to a rotisserie. The only problem is I don't know how to transfer a picture from my camera (Kodak) to the Forum.
As an aside, I have had the Volare in the frame since 1988. I have the answers to almost (?) any question you may have regarding this swap (not bragging... just have ran into almost every problem possible!). Very rare to see a Volare in a Chevy. I am currently building with a big block, Muncie 4-speed and 9". Larry |

If you can get it on your computer used the "manage attachments", "browse" under upload file from your computer. It will usually resize it, if it is to large you will need to open it on your computer in Paint (right click>"open with"), click "image" then resize same percentage and save with a new name. Close Paint and use manage attachments to upload.

It does not matter what vehicle the volare clip is installed in. I've done them on Chevy's and and Ford's. The problem is the big bulk steering box. You have to offset the engine to the passenger side and fab your motor mount. Header choice may also be an issue.

I just sold my entire chassis/with Volare clip. I used 2" band iron over steering box/to motor and down to top of cross member. Other side is easier. Sorry about the pics. They're the only ones I had.

seems like the center of gravity ends up being kind of highot clear the steering box. otherwise it looks a lot like a mII. doesn't that have torsion bars?

As I recall, they have torsion bars that 'criss-cross' on the forward side. They are adjustable too........

True, they are adjustable, but if you adjust them down as a means of lowering the front of your truck, you will find the ride is very soft and sloppy. To get a good low front stance you can purchase a 2" drop spindle from Fatman Eng. for about $450. The Volare is a decent suspension, but it doesn't compare to a good MII type front end. I never required any replacement parts for mine, but I would assume they're getting harder to find.

When I bought my truck it had a Volare IFS scabbed in....I replaced it with a Mustang II. No regrets.
