HELP! I have a few questions.. - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

1. Does anybody here know of an easy way to remove the headlight switch from a 59 GMC dash?

2. Does anybody know if the points, condenser, and plugs from a Chevy 235 will work in a GMC 270? or are they different just like everything else?

3. Does anybody know where i can get the original headliner material (inserts) for a 59 Suburban carryall?

4. and lastly, does anybody know of someone parting out a 55-59 Suburban/Panel? I need a few things.

1. Reach one hand up under the dash and find the little pushbutton thing on the back of the switch while sliding the knob out with the other hand. You should feel the button push in and then you can slide the shaft of the knob out of the switch. Then you can unscrew the bezel and take the switch out.

2. not sure on that one but it shouldn't be hard to find out.

3. There are some companies that specialize in oem style material for older cars and trucks.

4. No.

Check the local Napa for the points and ignition parts.

Points and condenser are the same

Is the push button on the very back of the connecting block (where all the wires connect) or is it up front just behind the dash panel? I already loosened the bezel ring and now the switch is floating around, is it easier to do if i tighten up the ring first?

yes tighten the bezel back up -easier to work w/ it - the push button is on top of the switch - not where the wires are .- just feel around the top of it - you'll feel it there .

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/de...RBJ108902.html This is a jeep switch but you can see the pushbutton on the back side of the switch in a couple of the photos. You have to slide the knob in and out while gently pushing the button down so that it will release than you can pull the knob and shaft out of the switch. It's best to have the battery disconnected as it usually leaves the lights on on the truck.
