Sway Bar Bushing install??

I have the new rubber bushings for each end of my sway bar and would like to install them in the sway bar to get rid of the old rubber and sqweeks. Can it do this with a bench vise or you you need something with more pressure?

How did you do it.

Re: Sway Bar Bushing install??

I just unbolted them and pulled the bushing off. It's split, so it came right off. Are we talking about the same type of bushings? My end bushings attached to the a-arms are the same as the ones mounted to the frame rail.

Re: Sway Bar Bushing install??

if your talking about these types of bushings , you can see the one on the right has a split in the rubber on the left side of it.....theres a theres a two hole "C" bracket that bolts over them, just unbolt bracket and pull it off the rubber bushing ,then slip the rubber off sway-bar......to install just slip rubber bushing on then bolt bracket over the rubber bushing .....all you need is some hand tools and your hands...

i had my browser sitting open for awhile on his post before you posted so i didnt see your reply till after i posted but yes basically said the same thing sorry.....

There is a tip on installing them that i used .......if you cant get the bolts to reach because the new rubber needs to be squished down with the bracket, take some longer bolts and tighten the bracket down and then replace the long bolts one at a time with the original short bolts....if that makes sense

Re: Sway Bar Bushing install??

I have the factory straight bar that attaches to the upper DS frame and the lower PS rear axle. The bushings I have are like the ones in the link.

Okay, I understand. You're talking about the rear stabilizer (panhard) bar not the front sway bar. Can't help you there. I just put on a new adjustable bar since I have a 5" drop.
