I need some help to decode my vin CE241J639657. Does it tell you if it is a 350? Is this a 3/4 ton? Thanks for your help.

Re: Please decode Vin
Your truck is a 2wd, v8, 3/4 ton, 1971 made in Janesville, WI. No way to know just off vin whether or not it came with 307, 350, or 402.

Re: Please decode Vin
Here is some more info on my truck. It is badged says it is a ct10 the wheels are five luge not six. Were there 5 luge 3/4 ton or has someone changed it to a 1/2 ton? How can I tell if it is a 1/2 or 3/4 ton?

Re: Please decode Vin
All of the 71-72 1/2 ton 2wd trucks were 5 lug. 67-70 and 1/2 ton 4x4 were 6 lug. All 3/4 ton are 8 lug. Double check your VIN with the title and the glove box door and make sure they are the same.

Re: Please decode Vin
Based on the VIN, the first response to your question is right. But, based on what you say is on the fender (C10) and the 5-lug wheel pattern, makes me wonder if the cab is original to the chassis. I'm guessing that the cab VIN matches your title.
Look on the chassis on the driver's side, in front of the firewall and there will be numbers stamped into the top of the frame rail. If it matches the numbers on your VIN tag, then someone has done some "work" on the chassis. If it doesn't match, it sounds like your cab was placed on the chassis you have. You have some detective work to do.

Re: Please decode Vin
I did check the vin on the frame it does match the vin on the glove box, frame, title. But the title says it is a 1/2 ton. I am the second owner so I guess the previous owner had changed some suspension parts? Or could this have been a production screw up?
