Drag Shocks?

Hey folks.. I'm in the market for a nice set of front drag shocks for my '68 GMC. What can you guys recommend?

What is your budget? Are you looking at coilovers? Single or double adjustable?

I run a double adjustable QA1 coilover set on my Super Gas car.

Re: Drag Shocks?

If bolting in stock location, I recommend QA1 stocker star. Compression is permanently set stiff, and rebound has 12 settings. They worked well on the stock front suspension. Paul

Re: Drag Shocks?

I'm looking for something budget minded.. I was looking at the Competition Engineering 2615 adjustable shocks...? The suspension is stock style, stock shock location. Will be using Moroso Trick springs, drop spindles, nothing fancy.

Re: Drag Shocks?

I really like Strange stuff. Have their single adjustable coil-overs on my camaro and love them.

Re: Drag Shocks?

The QA1 stocker star R series part # TR505 is 159.00 each through Summit. I believe I paid a little less through a local speed shop here in Atlanta. Paul

Re: Drag Shocks?

I have competition engineering shocks on my Vette and they work great. Keep in mind that my car has more weight in the front than most pick ups do that are drag racing.

Oops, that is just the part # that the Summit site spit out when I searched for our trucks. The price should not be any different though. YOu might have to call QA1 to get correct part#'s, then order from a dealer. Sorry about that, the photo showed eyes on both ends, so I went with it. Paul

Re: Drag Shocks?

I have the Chris Alston's Vari-Shock, it's Double adjustable and fits in the factory location. I like them a lot but they are expensive. I may be selling them soon if I get a new dropmember that uses coil-overs.

Re: Drag Shocks?

I Installed the new front shock location brackets from cpp that mount to the top of the frame rail to add a little more travel because my truck has drop springs and spindles. Then I called summit and give them the ride heght of the truck and the sent me a set. They work great on the street but I have not been to the track with them installed yet.
