Question on body work

Hey guys working on my 63' swb C-10. I welded up the stake pockets and noticed that on all 4 pockets that when I got done there was a slight tapering down on either end of the top of the bed. I noticed it when I payed a 4' level along the top to check for level. My question is....is the top of the bed supposed to taper down, or should it be level from tailgate to cab?
