Still restoring my 72 Super Cheyenne and need to know if bottom side of the hood is black or body color ? also what color hood hinge's and spring's , and hood latch and the one on rad.support ?

As far as what I've seen the correct colors are-
under hood, body color
hood latch and the catch on the support,satin black
Hood hinges and springs , not sure but have seen the a gray and black spring

I have done trucks with satin black under the hood and the hinges and latches also. Of corse they weren't show trucks or the like. Just good drivers. My project I'm working on now has all satin stuff you've mentioned.

At least on the 69s, colors/finishes were:
Underside of hood was black, satin or a bit flatter.
Hinges and latches were both black phosphate finish as used on many of the fasteners.

This truck was a low mileage garage kept truck. Under the hood was black but usually had alot of overspray. The other parts you aksed about were usually natural color (cast iron), but I have seen original hood hinges that were black oxidized too. If you buy new/NOS GM hinges thay are black.

Under hood is the same black as inner fenders and core support. I agree the other parts are natural finish,yet sometimes have paint. I've seen the same black used.

The underside of the hood on my 72 GMC Super Custom is Body Color (from the factory). The hinges are an anodized grey color. My truck is currently in storage otherwise I could get you better pics.

Some under side of hoods were black, some were body color. Every hood i owned were body color.
