x2 for the silverstars. stock replacement sealed beams in the 4x6 are loads better than the stockers.

Re: 4x6 headlight upgrades without goin to hid or projecters

alright sweet i thought i had heard this before but wasnt sure. i got a wiring harness from an import car that had h4's i think that has 2 25 amp relays and 2 20 amp fuses that was after market will this work for the relay side of things for the dim and bright headlights on top anyways?

That should work just fine, I built my own harness off a diagram I found in the F&Q section. Both my relays run off a single 30 amp circuit breaker.....

Hella makes an H4 kit. They make alot of different H4 overwattage bulbs. I use 130 watt highs with a painless wiring harness.

Re: 4x6 headlight upgrades without goin to hid or projecters

if you put HIDs in the non hid housings (like the hella h4 or cheap ebay housings) without fitting an actual projector in there light output will be terrible, as in worse than a stock replacement bulb.

Walmart sells their syvania's halogen bulbs? for a reasonable price, best thing is they are easy to install and work great. Iv'e used them on 2 chevies and been happy/ they get rid of the old nasty yellow lighting

Re: 4x6 headlight upgrades without goin to hid or projecters

Haven't done it yet, but I will be doing relays and a higher wattage bulb. I don't buy into the hid hype. They are fine in a housing designed by a lighting engineer, but not this retrofit BS. I don't buy the silverstar hype either.

Got pictures of how the Morimoto's look inside the housing? Ie: a pic from the front of the truck.

And to answer the op...I am using autopal 4x6 with h4 90w/100w lo/hi in the top spot, and autopal 4x6 h1 130w hi only in the bottom spot.

Re: 4x6 headlight upgrades without goin to hid or projecters

hi TheApocalyptican,

havent finished them yet, still need to paint the inside of the housing because they were old housings and the chrome is bad. still not sure if I m going with black of silver. The projector will be finished with a gatling shroud.

heres what they look now.

Re: 4x6 headlight upgrades without goin to hid or projecters

ive been thinking of doing hella e codes with HID's stuffed in them.. not the best.. but pretty much the best housing you can get that isnt a projector apparently.

I've got the e-code style autopals where the light is controlled by the reflector, with a clear lens. I used to have the e-code style autopals on my Blazer, where the reflector is smooth, and the lens controls the light. The lens controlled ones, are very similar to the hellas. The only weakness vs the hellas, is the light doesn't spread as wide. But the difference in price(to me) was worth the little bit less width. Just my 2¢.
