WHat are "Buddy Buckets"?

My 70 Sierra Grande has buckets and a console, but I'd always thought the middle console flipped up into a third seat - hence the "buddy bucket".

Was there such an option in these years, or are bucket seat trucks 2-seat vehicles (notwithstanding you could put your redheaded stepchild on the console, but it's not safe).

If not, why are they called "buddy" buckets?

Re: WHat are "Buddy Buckets"?

Buddy buckets only came in 67 & 68

69 to 72 came with Bucket seats with a console

I'll see if I can find a picture of both.

What are buddy buckets? They are the 67/68 bucket seats and console option. The bucket seats & console design changed to the 3pc design in '69. Somewhere along the line (pretty recently) people started calling them buddy buckets.

Yep, it always helps when someone posts a picture of -your- actual truck in the explantion. That's really going the extra mile!

Really? We always called them girlfriend buckets, because when you got along she could slide on over. And,when she got mad you could fold the arm rest down and be fairly safe.
