If you end up using rubber make sure that you ground the radiator because of the electolosis. The metal trans lines help prevent this.

How did they ground them in 3 and 4 speed trucks? Did they use a ground strap?
I wouldn't use hose for anything but a temp just-to-get-home thing. Quote:

They must have. I used rubber lines in my truck with a brand new radiator and the seams were leaking in about a year, took it back to the radiator shop and they showed me actual voltage going through the radiator while the engine was running. They soldered on an electrical tab and hooked up a ground wire and the problem went away. New one to me.

Never heard that one.
I have always been told that the voltage in the coolant is when you know it is time to chainge it. (this worsens when you have allimunum and iron on the same engein...like the infamouse chrome water neck that "eats" the alluminum intake) You can get a small test kit from napa to test the coolant for Ph levels and freeze point and I think the electrolisis level, and then if it is bad they have this Napa Kool (Not a typo) that you pour in there to fix it. |
