NOthing you do to your truck is stupid REGARDLESS of what others opinions are.....TO EACH HIS OWN, a CD player in the dash is convenient, either way fumbling for a remote, or reaching the glove box to switch out a cd, you still take your eyes of the road.....Do what you want, but drive your truck like nobodies business.

I wanted to keep my dash uncut, but then I pulled the tape deck out, and saw that under the little black plate, the dash has has some cutting done to it, so, i did not think about twice about cutting it.

racedvl, that pic is funny as hell. I can totally see that happening to me. cut my dash burn out my new one installing it and have to put the original one back in.
CPNE, about the acoustics in our trucks being less than adequate. My Blazer is fine, I take the top of and everyone can hear.

IMO, Don't cut it if you are going to do an all out factory resto on the truck. If you aren't doing that type of resto, then have at it!

Geez, you guys can't read in the hint of sarchasm or what? Or are you all secretly ashamed of your dashes?

The guy simply asked if cutting the dash was a good idea or not. It's his decision. I was making two points:

1. Acoustic in these rigs suck, a ultra-modern stereo won't correct that. You have to make other adjustments too.
2. There are alternatives, but each alternative has a down side.

Lighen up. I think a few of you have been listening to your stereos too loud.:p

I think I can just wait on it for now. I will see how the truck turns out then I will decide what to do with the radio. I will probably end up cutting it if I get the interior looking really nice and modern.
