Project Heavy Half
So, this project was born out of necessity... after my husband was laid off (which also meant no more company truck), he decided to start his own business. Money is tight, but he needs a truck.
We had previously gotten this one for free and we had used it as a farm truck: 88 GMC Sierra SLX, TBI 305, TH400, NP241 with 207K. The guy who gave it to us had it out back behind his house and when he bought a new jeep, his wife said I hope that old jeep doesn't end up out back with that old truck... so he knew one had to go. It runs, but the transmission was leaking badly and he neglected to put fluid in it… had to put close to 4 quarts in it! The motor was pretty weak too.

Re: Project Heavy Half
We found a “it ran when I parked it” parts truck… a light duty ¾ ton. Also an 88 GMC but 350, 700R4, 2wd with the semi-floating 14 bolt, 6 lug rear. 130K on this one... he parked it because he did not have money to fix the windshield nor a running problem (cracked exhaust manifold).
I have to say, these are some oddly optioned trucks... the 'farm truck' had AC and delay, but no cruise, had manual locks and windows and idiot lights. The parts truck had no AC, no delay wipers or cruise, had manual locks and windows, but full guages. Here's the parts truck coming home on the trailer...
