Re: What's this truck worth? 71 Chev C10

You said you don't want to be in it for more than one can be bought done? I'm not trying to be a big jerk here, but unless you can do all or almost all of the work yourself, and can get a big discount on the parts you probbably can't build that truck for what you can buy it allready done. Just about anyone on here will tell you that it almost always cost more to build than to buy. Unless there is some sentimental attachment to this truck [and it appears there is not] or you are in the business of building cars and trucks [and sometimes still not then] you just want to build a truck for the experiance or the fun or whatever but most will say that at their labor at zero most of the time they cannot get their money out if they need to sell. If you have to farm out work in any areas [body paint ,electical, mechanical] your probability of making money goes down. I don't want to bust any bubbles or ideas of goodtimes you might have with family and or friends that a build can bring and those thing can't be measured by money. i am the last one to discourage anyone from a build if you have done it before I'll steop off and appolgize for my statments to you , but if you have'nt build before the economy is such that it can't or won't support all of the builds that are being done with the thoughts of making money and easy sales. It is not that easy. Jim

Jim, no worries or offense here. I totally understand your words. I actually do all the work myself other than spraying the paint. It would by no means be my first rodeo. My thought is to restore and sell. But, as you mentioned these builds are for the love of the build and not to make a profit. It also could be a replacement build over the 68 C10 rat holed for the wife. My question mainly is to get a consensus of the value from other members. Just as a comparision to my own thoughts. Well see what happens.

Thanks Guys!

Re: What's this truck worth? 71 Chev C10

I kinda disagree on the price between 3 and 4. I think if its rust free and a real big block bucket seat tilt tach truck that is straight it should bring atleast 5k atleast in Alabama. I search craigslist and ebay and i have never seen a truck with them options with no rust bring that low of a price. Bucket seats are bringing a thousand with covers around here tilt is 2-300 and all big block stuff is pricey and rust free is about impossible to find or put a price on. So i guess its up to what you are willing to pay

I went and looked a 72 3/4 4x4 super that did not run and every panel was dented and rotten and he was asking 3,,800 I didn't make an offer i just walked away. 6,000 for a truck that needs a lot of work is not worth 6,000 give it a little time if he really wants to sell the price will come down.

Re: What's this truck worth? 71 Chev C10

Man if that truck showed up here on the west coast Be leave me its worth 10,000 here in sunny calif. That like a 1968 charger with no motor or trans Nut no cancer and no body damage there 10,000 easy and that Mopar

you are looking at one of the finest Chev trucks that GM built the only one higher then that would be the GMC.

But most people like how the Chevy's look over the GMC duel head lights.Man if that guy puts that truck on eBay its GONE the collectors here in AZ and Calif would scoop that deal up in a heart beat

Go look on eBay see what those trucks are fetching for and that thing sounds to be loaded and Done who cares about the interior or some of the chrome is missing or it needs seats to be redone

Have you priced how much a body guy is getting Per hour to do body work its like 95.00 a hour and your saying the body has no rot cancer or major body damage Paint will be the biggest expense every thing else is a Cake walk

Some people have all the Luck

But I think i got a better deal then you got cus i only payed $650.00 for my Cheyenne and mine is fully loaded

But mine dose not have Big block tilt buckets or cruse control. But for the price I don't care for what i save i could go out and buy every thing and put it in mine.

But I like my newer crate 350 that the PO put in it's a black on black truck with all the chrome never been hit NO CANCER no body ROTT one owner Truck and sitting on DMV NONE OPTED no DMV back fee's

truck even has a factory rear slider
