Headers on Inline 250, Help!

First off enjoying this forum with a ton of great information. Im in the process of installing aftermarket headers on my 67 C10 (inline six 250). I'm using the stock intake manifold and found an aftermarket heat plate that attaches to the bottom. It uses water to heat the intake for reasonable fuel economy and good driving response. Has anybody had first hand experience with the heat plate? Is it necessary or can I get by without it? Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Since inlines are bad for fuel puddling especially when cold I would use it. I had a fancy style 6 setup in a nova years ago and it was brutal on fuel without the heater going to the intake though it was a high per offy 4 bbl. you could get by without it but cold weather driving mpg will suffer. Good luck

I would drop the people at Cliffords an email. These guys are fanatical about hopping up the L6 & they will be best able to talk to you about what you need for your climate.

I used it when I put mine together. I never tried it without it, so I can't tell you what that's like. The truck was my daily driver, so it seemed like a good idea.

I used one on my 230 in my 65. First on the stock intake and later on the Offy. IIRC Clifford doesn't sell them. Their intakes have the passages built in. Langdon's sell them.
Here's a link.
