The motor and trans is just sitting on top of the frame by the way. I will be tackling that job next.

Off to a good start. What is the approximate time you have in it regarding the above pictures?

Looks like a real solid truck you're starting with.
I see from the running boards, it was a flatbed. Are you gonna keep it a flatbed?

Re: 54/s10 build..figured i'd start this

Thanks guys. I have roughly 30 hrs into it probably. I get about 4-5 hrs a day on Saturday and Sunday to work on it. Oilfield wont give you much more time than that.
No im not keeping it a flat bed, I thought alot about it but decided to put a bed on it.
I bought a complete bed for $200. Little rough but fixable for sure. The truck its self I picked up for a grand with title. Floors were rotted out but rest was solid

Are you going to fab up your own brackets or use a kit to mount the body to the frame.

Also does anyone know how much of a pain it is to go with manual trans on this setup?

Manual trans in our 54 on S10. No sweat other than making a mount on the firewall to run a slave cylinder. We have the NV3500 5 speed with hydraulic linkage. We used S10 pedals. make sure you measure twice and drill once on the firewall. I screwed that one up by about 3" somehow.

Re: 54/s10 build..figured i'd start this

Thanks Dan, a guy wants to trade me his nv trans for the 305 i pulled from a monte carlo. It's just sitting there so I think I may try it since I like the manual trans.

And this is my helper who decided he needed to work on his bike and get it up in the air. All while eating spaghetti-o's.
