New Dash Build

Has anyone built a new dash insert while still using the stock dash pad and lower half of the dash?

I am thinking of building one that replaces the stock plastic piece, but want it to flow with the rest of the dash. Want to use an aluminum gauge bezel that you would normally see in a street rod. Similar, but not exactly, to the one below.

Re: New Dash Build

Wow I`d love to see you pull that off. Build thread would be greatly appreciated. Theres alot of guys on here that are tired of our stock gauges/bezels. Only other alternative is to dump around 900 bucks for the Auto Meter verison but that still keeps the stockish look.

Re: New Dash Build

I agree, and it will be something different. But, after doing some searching, it might be difficult to make a custom dash insert, vs. just creating a whole new dash from scratch. Plus then I wont have to repair or buy a new pad, saving me money.

Re: New Dash Build

So after talking it over with my friend that does a lot of wood work, I am going to completely make a new dash. Using the same methods used as the build of the dash in red rocker, but NOT building the same dash. I will have my gauges in the dash and the airride and radio in the center console.
