A spring goes there? I have never seen one in all the trucks i have with AC

Yep, I found the broken one laying in the cowel of my parts truck so I don't know how long it is supposed to be and I would guess the tension is critical to the operation of the flap. It would suck to guess wrong and have to take all this apart to get to it.
