Which way am I going??
Hey guys,
My clutch is starting to slip a bit, and I was curious which way I start cranking the nuts on the threaded shaft to tighten it up a bit? Please excuse the crude drawing - I suck at drawing on paper, nevermind Microsoft Paint! Can anyone steer me in the right direction? I'm going to try and find a picture of what I'm looking at. The picture I included looks like hell! BTW - it's a 3 Speed manual tranny

honest - I haven't spent the day smoking crack!
I guess I could crawl under the truck and fight it, it's just that of course nobody's around to push the pedal for me while I'm under the truck. Ah well.

Maybe their is slack in the linkage. Just tighten everything up to get the extra slack out it and see how that works. Ususally this is all that it takes to adjust the clutch. If this doesn't work, you need a new clutch disc and maybe the flywheel resurfaced.

If there is slack in your linkage and you have slip, then you probably need a new clutch. With slack in the linkage, there would be nothing holding it back from fully engaging. If you had slack, you might notice that it was hard to shift since it wouldn't be disengaging all the way. Just something to think about.

While I can not remember which way to adjust it...turn the bolts untill you have about one inch of freeplay on your clutch pedal. Check the freeplay with your hand instead of your foot, it is 10 times easier to feel it with your hand.

Make the threaded rod shorter to gain freeplay & set it just like Longhorn said. If you have freeplay & it still slips, guess what?...
