best aggressive a/t tires avaliable? opinions?
Hey guys, I have a 89 ext cab 4x4 z71 with a 3" lift.I currently have eagle alloy 20" wheels with dick cepek 33" mud tires. I plan on selling those. They are so heavy and ride like crap, but that's expected from a mud terrain. I plan on buying a set of 17" factory chevy wheels and need advice on an agressive a/t tire to buy. I drive my truck all highway at 60mph.

You can never go wrong with BFG AT's, but, I work for Discount Tire Co. The largest independant tire retailer in the US, and I've been running Hankook DynaPro ATM's on both my '05 DuraMax and '80 K20 and love them! We do not have stores in AL, but go to DiscountTireDirect.com in the link above and we can ship them to you.

I plan on going with Goodyear Duratrac's. Getting mostly good reviews. Great in the snow apparently.

I've had good luck with BFG A/Ts, and have heard nothing but good about Goodyear Duratracs. http://www.tirerack.com/index_w.jsp has good info if you want to compare several brands.

Re: best aggressive a/t tires avaliable? opinions?
I've had a few set of BFG AT's... I also had a set of Grabber ATs on my "flip this truck" project.
Both decent tires so it depends on your pocketbook.

Quote:
how do the bfg at's and the dynapro atm's compare when it comes to balancing? the reason i ask is because i'm currently running the bfg at's and while they're awesome tires, they are a ***** to balance. i've run them in the past on other vehicles as well, and it's always been the same ...at least one or more of my tires is more square than round. how do the dynapro's compare? do you have a lot of people coming back frequently to have them rebalanced? ..in general, do they take a lot of weight to balance? sorry for all the questions, but it's about time to get new tires and i was looking at the dynapro ..just didn't know much about them. |

Re: best aggressive a/t tires avaliable? opinions?
I've never had an issues with BFG's in balance...
you could find a place that uses a balancing powder instead of lead weights.
