Front & Rear Full Suspension Tune Up
My 69 Chevy beater, which I was planning on just keeping as is as a work truck is turning into a project. Mostly because Im getting the tinkering bug and the all the bushings, ball joints, and tie rod ends are shot.
The previous owner said it was lowered 3 inches. Well it was more like 2 inches and it was not lowered. It is just that worn out. Or someone cut some coils out of the springs. Either way, after I get my Hurst shifter installed and the brakes squared away, the suspension is next. I am only familiar with the kit offered by LMC. It is 500 bucks. Are there any other options out there for full on bushing, tie rod end, ball joint, springs, and sway bar mount bushing replacement kits? |

Re: Front & Rear Full Suspension Tune Up
I am looking at getting a full kit from Performance Suspension Technology (PST). They have kits starting about $200 and I read some good things. They just redid their site so everything isn't listed online, but I got some real good help by emailing them.

Bushings from PST or Energy suspension. As for ball jounts and Tie Rod Ends, get Moog or TRW. Most of the 'kit' ball joints and ends are not that great.

Re: Front & Rear Full Suspension Tune Up
I recommend that you check out rockauto.com for the moog parts that you need. Most moog parts are between 20% and 40% cheaper than anywhere else.

Re: Front & Rear Full Suspension Tune Up
I read that some Moog stuff is still here and some is China. As for which pieces are made where, I'm not exactly sure.

Re: Front & Rear Full Suspension Tune Up
I just put Moog upper and lower balljoints in my '64, and they were all made in the USA. I swapped a '79 front suspension under mine, so all of my parts are for a '79. I price checked NAPA for the uppers and lowers, and their premium stuff was $192, including tax. I went to my local speed shop (Dale's Speed and Marine, Hesperia, California), and I got all Moog stuff for $154 out the door, tax included. It pays to shop around.
I priced Moog stuff on Rock Auto, and their prices are very good. I just wanted to buy local, so I went to Dale's.
