Parts truck purchase 16" wheels (pics-update)
Hey guys I just bought a 67 C10 LWB stepside from a small VW junkyard near my mom's house. It doens't have any interior, no guages or glove box door. It does have the old six under the hood with good fenders front and back, and a good cab (small window). What is interesting is that it has, what appears to be factory, 5 16 inch 6 lug wheels, this would include the side mounted spare. I remember discussing these wheels on another post a few weeks or months ago. I couldn't find the post. Anyway it looks pretty cool with these wheels. Were they an option? Give me some scoop. It appears to be a 1/2 ton, C10 on the front fenders. I have not decoded the VIN yet. Oh yeah! I got the truck for $150. I'll get some pics as soon as I can.

Re: Parts truck purchase 16" wheels
Can't wait to see pictures. Yeah,16" wheels was an option on C/10s. Actually,16" tires were the option and the wheels are just what was necessary. The point is for a heavier weight rating. There was a set in the WIW section n the last couple weeks.

Re: Parts truck purchase 16" wheels
Are the 16" stock steelies hard to come by? My '64 c10 also came with 16" rims...unfortunately only 3 though.
2 of them are old style 16" rims with the clips. |

Re: Parts truck purchase 16" wheels
Not sure what I'm going to do with it. I wasn't in the market for a whole truck. I asked the guy if he was willing to sell parts off the truck, and just threw in a comment about buying the whole truck. I plan on breaking it down and putting it in the barn at my moms house. The cab firewall, drip rails, corners are pretty solid. It has surface rust in spots. I am going to massage the front fenders for my 68 since it has a 67 bed. That way it will be consistent as far as the side markers go. I may build a rolling chasis then look for additonal sheet metal to make another truck. So I'll rescue what I can. getting it to the barn is going to be a pain, flat tires, no steering column, and wedged in amongst a bunch of bugs.
The wheels look like factory steel wheels. If they are not at least they are all the same.

Parts truck purchase 16" wheels (update-pics)
I know it's a POS parts truck, but all of these old trucks have a personality. I thought I would throw in a couple of pics. I may be wrong, but I think it has $150 worth of usable spare parts. Sorry for the big pics.
Looks like it was blue in it's previous life. I thought the spare tire "lock" was neat, never had one with a spare on the fender.

Re: Parts truck purchase 16" wheels
The POS comment was about the aesthetics of the truck, not the truck itself. For someone with more ability, shop space, and time, this truck would be a great factory restoration truck. I can imagine those 16 inch wheels in white with dog dish hubcaps and fresh factory paint.
