I have been wanting to go and get my vent windows on my 84 done to where its just a solid piece of glass and do away with the vent window.... Has anyone done this? Anyone see anything wrong with doing it....both of my vent windows are trash and I figure just doin a solid glass would be cheaper and more reliable

If I'm not mistaken, the reason why no one has done this is because the glass is actually curved i.e. very expensive. I've seen it done with Lexan (plexiglass) but they were non functionable

now that I went back and re-reread it. you're just talking about replacing the vent window, right?

don't see why you couldn't... does away with the lock. use some heavy duty black adhesive

Yeah I'm just looking to get the vent window completly sealed...I want ever use them and right now there leaking pretty bad...I think it would be cheaper to just get new seals and have the glass glued in and be done with it....

They have RTV black gaskets maker around the seals to seal up all the air leaks. This makes them impossible to open unless you break the seal.

Re: any1 done this to vent windows?????

I always just sealed the windows shut with black RTV but left them as they were. Be careful though, I forgot one day my vent window was sealed in my 77 and tried to open it without thinking, well needless to say I busted the glass, and in turn when it broke i dropped the locking handle out the window hole on the freeway. that was almost as bad as when my buddy had an unlatched T-top blow off of his trans-am on the highway.
