Re: Paint Question
"the blackout is quite flat with very little sheen, but not quite dead flat. Under the hood is shinier for sure."
Thanks OEM4ME, I was wondering about that - and my truck isn't original/correct enough to tell - much appreciated! |

Re: Paint Question
OEM4ME - here's one just for you, I know you'll love it!
I'll send someone over with a mop and broom immediately.... Btw, I'm of course kidding you because I agree with you 100%. I'm still not 100% sold that this is the case for the heavy trucks - like the big-uns, but interesting thread nonetheless. I was waiting for your post by the way, you've got the most original stuff I've ever seen. |

Re: Paint Question
here are 3 gmcs, an east coast , a west/midwest, and a school bus, all are still wearing the factory paint.
the union truck also looks to have a body color grille, but since the photo is b/w I can't be sure..

Re: Paint Question
Here's a pair of fenders and grill shell I sprayed. As said before, the black should be nearly flat instead of gloss.
Mock up the fenders/grill shell before you paint it to mark the edges so the tape lines match up when it's assembled.

Grill Paint Question
After sanding the panel it looks like the factory painted the entire panel body color, applied the black then the white.
