70 Blazer with later style GM seatbelts

Got these seatbelts from a '72 Caddy 2 door this weekend at the junk yard. Installed them last night except the shoulder harness part. You can see where I was thinking of mounting them to the roll bar. Deciding if I can deal with the fact that they restrict you from leaning forward being that there is not retractor on them. Has anyone seen someone use the later version of these with the full retractor(74 and later cars / trucks)?

I think you want just the "loop" on the rollbar, with the single retractor on the floor that spools in both lap and shoulder belt upon unbuckeling, so it'll hang flat and tight against the rollbar when not i use. Id think most 2 door cars and trucks from 80's on up would have this 3 point system.

Re: 70 Blazer with later style GM seatbelts

The style belt you have is common among all the GM cars from 69-72, without the retractable shoulder setup. What's really nice about those is you can disconnect the shoulder belt and just run the lap belt. It's made to lock onto the lap belt before fastening the buckle. The idea is to have the lap belt adjusted and leave it there, and it moves out of the way when you retract the lap belt.
This style does not allow you to lean forward while it's latched, as you pointed out. It is something that I guess I've gotten used to as most of my collection is 69-72 muscle cars with this very setup.

In my mind, it would be a great setup for a blazer, because you can release the shoulder belt and let it hang for people to get in the back seat without an obstruction in the way (depending on where you mount the retractable base).

Exactly what I was thinking (In Red) when I purchased these. Lap belt portion works great, I tried it last night. I will need to buy bolts and washers to go through the roll bar completly so I can mount the shoulder harness. I am still thinking of getting a later style possibly though due to the leaning forward issue.
