I really need some interior help...
I need to replace everything in my interior... and yet nothing. lol. it all technically works! but it is all also falling apart.
I am thinking of replacing the dash knobs all first. Any suggestions? the heater is intermittent (the switch seems to work only 1/2 the time) should I replace that whole $170 unit? (LMC)? part of me wants to pull the seat and reupholster it first cause there is an affordable shop next to my office, but I think I should do all these other things first in case I damage the new seat work... I also need a gas pedal... lol suggestions? I have none, just pressing a little bar down haha. |

Re: I really need some interior help...
can the lighter assembly be replaced with an actual cell phone charger type plug/outlet?

Re: I really need some interior help...
Dustin, what are you working on? year I mean.
the cig lighter is the same thing as the charger adapter. If you pull the seat, that would make more room to get to other stuff, especially under the dash. which heater switch do you have? lever type of pull/turn switches? You can get a pedal from any of the vendors. I have always used Classic Parts but you can use who you like to use.

Re: I really need some interior help...
I would do the seat last.....to keep it from getting paint on it or ripped. Recovering the seat is pretty easy. Including prep and install took about 3-4 hours total.

Re: I really need some interior help...
yeah I was thinking the same about getting the seat last. it just seems like easiest! haha.
I have a '61. dont know why I didnt think of that. I have the 2 lever heater. I did contemplate going deluxe, but its just 2 lever now. the gas pedal, I found rubber covers and stuff, but I haven't seen the actual pedal, I"ll go check classic right now, i've spent most of my time on LMC. |

Few pics of the interior here
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=496322 you can see she's basically complete, its just a matter up fixing her up now. is that the big hump tranny tunnel? It has a welded spot where someone pulled the floor shift and went to column. |

Re: I really need some interior help...
Interior is in pretty good shape. I would try and fix anything that needs fixed in cab 1st. Once its all mechanically sound then I would do paint and trim pieces, leaving the upholstery last.

Re: I really need some interior help...
The interior is pretty easy (why I started there) and most things could just need a good cleaning. There are lots of good parts sources. What is the goal?

Re: I really need some interior help...
well, just ordered new dome assy, LOL. so I guess next on the list would be lighter assy, heater, or radio. but those door seals should be taken care of. especially the window.

For the gas pedal I got an old mack truck pedal and made a bracket for it to fit on the floor and it rests on gas pedal rod lol

Re: I really need some interior help...
There are an almost endless variety of dash knobs available. What looks best really depends on the “theme” of your truck. Personally I never liked the original truck knobs, even when they were new. I thought they looked clunky and without any sense of style. After years of searching for original Cal Custom ball knobs I finally invested in a set of 1960 Ford Galaxie dash knobs and really liked them. Here’s what they looked like:
They looked great and were splined providing a nice grip. I was completely happy with them until – SoCal Speed Shop released a close replica of the old 49 Ford “ball” knobs, which were the basis for the vintage Cal Custom copies. They became a must have and they won’t be changing again. Here’s what they look like installed: There are many other restoration knobs to choose from along with billet aluminum knobs in a bunch of styles. Just about any knob from any make car can be attached using JB Weld. That’s what I use on mine. Regarding the gas pedal, if you decide to install a stock pedal, try to find an original. I installed one of the replica pedals and within a few months the middle of the pedal had bent in almost half an inch because the metal core simply wasn't as strong as OEM. Since my truck is old school I mounted an old Cal Custom replica of the Moon pedal. If you want something different and more modern Lokar and others have billet pedals to pick from. Re: I really need some interior help...
yeah I dont really like the OEM knobs either Mark. something about them is just kinda 'cheap' to me. just not a fan. I'd love to find like some solid billet versions or something but I haven't seen much. I am thinking I just need to keep researching, lol.
