a backspacing ? for our 4x4s

72 gmc k2500: I currently have 35s on a 16 inch rim, want to go to some mt classic wheels.





as you can see, too much bling, for me at least. I think I have a 10 wide wheel now, on 12.5 tire. Tires are good and want to keep them but down the road I might be going to some wider swampers, maybe not. So I dont want my tires to stick out too far nor do I want them to rub on the springs or steering. Never bought NEW rims, what backspacing would be good?

are 12.50 ok with a 10in rim? off the road I mean

I prefer 10" wide wheels with 5" of back spacing and 12.5" to 15" tires. They stick out just enough for an aggressive look and don't rub on anything with a 3" lift.

A 12.5 on a 10" rim is perfect and can be aired down into the single didgets without problems.

before I bite the bullet, this look ok?

going with mickey's 360481, 16x10, with 4 7/16" backspacing

hopefully I can recoup some cost by selling the old rims

are you sure those are 10" wide? that second picture makes it look more like 8" from where i sit.. ....i'd measure and be sure if you just "think" they are 10" wide.

You might want to double check the backspacing as well. I'm pretty sure 4" is about all you can get on the front without hitting the tie rods.

yes.


for an 8" wheel, you want between 3.75 and 4" of backspacing. ...you'll probably find that 4" is as little as you can get in a 16" aluminum wheel. 15" wheels are a different story. ..you can get them with as little as 2.5" of backspacing if you don't mind steel.


i just purchased MT Classic II's in 16x8 with 4" backspacing to use on my FF 14 bolt and 3/4 ton 10 bolt and will be running 315/75/16. ..they appear to work well ..but i'm down to just a frame and axles. ..no body parts have been put on yet.
