Problems with emergency brake
'99 2WD Tahoe. Hey all - posted this in '88-98 but got lots of views and zero replies so maybe someone here can take a crack at it:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=503500 Bottom line: e-brake "popped" after parking the other day. Brake rebuild over a year ago. Not a cable break at either back wheel. Cable is super loose all the way up. Thinking there's a bracket or the adjuster that might have broken. Petal now goes all the way down to the floor and barely engages the shoes.

Re: Problems with emergency brake
Take off the drums, See if the park brake lever pin came out or the adjuster/park brake link is off.
GM used 2 different drum brake systems on GMT400 1/2 ton truck/SUVs, A 10" leading/trailing-non servo style...........And a 11" Duo-Servo style. Knowing what you have will help. |
