ok 1 more 63 c10 question - transmissions and a 350?

in your estimation is it worth swapping out a running 283 with the stock 4 speed manual transmission to a GM 350 crate and either adding the stock transmission or looking into alternative manula transmissions? is there a simple maual 5 or 6 speed trans that will work without reinventing the wheel or is this just overkill? i will be swapping the rear axle out with the stock one from a 79 c10 so i should have better gearing regardless. while i am going through the truck - and while i have a tiny bit of non-family mandated cash - i am looking at potential options/ideas to make the truck a daily driver.

thanks again for everyones assistance.

Re: ok 1 more 63 c10 question - transmissions and a 350?

my initial plan was to use my stock 327 with a Muncie M20. But after looking at the 6 speed, I am either saving up to do an LS swap with T56, or gutting a Corvette for an LT1 and T56. It's only money, right?
