Power Steering Box Conversion
Anybody know if the 73-87 Outer tie rods will bolt to my 67 drum spindles? Will I have to shorten the lower section of the steering column? I wanna swap out my sloppy manual box for a p/s box to shorten lock to lock.

Re: Power Steering Box Conversion
Just did more digging and it looks like I dont even need a new pitman. Now I just gotta see what it takes to connect it to the column.

I seem to recall some saying you will have to dimple the frame for the power steering gear to fit properly on the earlier manual steering trucks. I put a 75 box on my truck and it was a direct bolt on. Mine is a 72 with PS though.

Re: Power Steering Box Conversion
Yeah, I know you either have to dimple the frame or add the plate up to early 68. My biggest concern was the nuts and blolts of it. Seems I can bolt it in if I use the P/S pitman arm but I would think I would at least want the P/S idler too. From what I've seen so far in my research, the rag joint is not a problem either.

Re: Power Steering Box Conversion
When I did mine I used a later model box and swapped to a 68 PS pitman arm.I didn't change tie rod ends(they were new from the disc swap).I didn't need a new idler so I didn't replace it.Mines a 68 so I didn't have to do the dimple.
