Father son project 87 short step 4x4
This truck was bought as a running driving parts truck for another project that has since been sold. It is now being built with help from my to sons for my oldest for when he turns 16 (he is 14 at this time).
It started out as a 87 long fleet side 4x4 but is now a short stepside well atleast that is what it is going to be when it is done. we started by shortening the frame 14" in the middle and 6" from the rear then we installed a 4" lift. Know we are starting on the body front fenders, doors, rockers, drivers floor and cab corners were bought from LMC and are in the process of being installed. Well enough with the typing now some pics. What it looked like when we brought it home shortening the frame |

I hope it turns out really nice it is going to be Bright Metalic Orange with 35" tires. It is going to be his daily driver and will go to deer lease. But if he knows whats good for him it will not be a beater.

Make sure he's learning everything about the truck, that's more important than the truck itself! Looking good so far.

Made a little progress patch from LMC for the drivers floor was a little to small to get all the rust out so I ended up making my own out of sheet metal (one of the perks of being a Sheet Metal worker). Also got the cab corners and rockers in primer now a little modification to the pass fender to get a nice gap and fit the drivers side door and fender and get them in primer and then get to work on the bed.
