To pound or to cut, that is the question....

Setup:
65 Sub
Porterbuilt dropmember front
454

The porterbuilt setup raises the motor a bit to clear the rack etc and low and behold I am having some fitment issues.

Both the valve covers and dist cap are going to hit the firewall. The motor is set in but cannot get the valve covers nor cap on. The dist cap cannot get past the lip right below the hood.

The burb will end up going to the body shop soon, so from a do it right stand point should I just pound it out for clearance and then have them smooth it out, or cut it out and have them fill it with some custom sheetmetal work?

The later is about your only alternative, unless you run the stock older low profile valve covers, the dizzy should fit but you have to install without cap first drop it in then install cap, it wil be right up against the firewall.

Do you have room to move the engine forward a couple inches? That's what I did with the BB in my '66 Burb.

Well I feel like a goof lol....

Friend came over and popped the cap right on.... I was in a hurry due to company coming over and must have been catching on something.

As far as the valve cover issue... Going to try a set of stock covers today. The ones I have are higher than stock. If the stock ones fit, will just swap covers.
