Aftermarket inner fenders (67-72)

Im sure this has been discussed a bunch--just didnt find it, But----

Ive been looking for a perfect right front inner fender-----I know, like hens teeth!
Anyway, my question is: Has anyone actually used an aftermarket inner that didnt fit? Ive heard nothing but horror stories about poor fit on all of the aftermarket units------------if they fit poorly, be specific on what the issue was.

thanks guys

I have used serveral of them. The main thing is to start all the bolts before tighting the first one down.

Well that sounds encouraging-----

Ive heard "bolt holes dont fit"

"holes dont line up"
but Ive never pinned anyone down on exactly where or how they dont fit.

Tnks for the answer Tim

I've had trouble getting the bolt holes lined up around the wheels opening. Nothing major just takes some time to get them all started then tighten up.

Re: Aftermarket inner fenders (67-72)

I used some aftermarkets on a 73-87 and the bolt holes didn't line up with the aftermarket fenders from the same manufacturer (China).

I recently used a set of tri-plus inners on a 72 blazer. No issues at all. After using them, it's gonna be awfull hard to ever patch an original again.

Use Triplus. I have one that is and one thats some other brand. Less than half the weight of the Triplus

Re: Aftermarket inner fenders (67-72)

I had heck getting my Goodmark inner fender to fit. It wasn't just the bolt holes didn't line up, the shape of the fender simply wasn't right. It curved too much and was slightly too small.

The outer fender, however, fits perfect just like the stock fender.

Re: Aftermarket inner fenders (67-72)

I've installed 2 sets so far and it's just a little tug of war to get all the bolt holes lined up but they did go.

I want to add one important thing about these inner repro fenders... Make sure you SEAL wherever there is a bracket or reinforcement on these. (tire side) They rot out quickly if anything gets in there and you'll be patching repro's instead of originals!

I've had good luck with Triplus for over 10 years. Good fit and metal thickness.

Most of my triplus was from GMC Pauls or Top Banana. But there are a few board vendors that sell it as well

Cool, Top Banana is a couple hours ride might have to make a trip soon for that and several other items.

Yes top Banana is right next to or in the same town as Key Parts which is Triplus, so sourcing what you need from them should be a breeze. Just check the parts b4 you leave with them, I did have to send back a fender with a beig dent in it. (may have happened in shipping to tho.) I found most of there stuff to be the same or better fit and always thicker gauge
