I put this thread on, and I think it is incorrect. I think the tank has to be dropped under the truck in order to replace the fuel pump. Sorry.

No, that is correct, remove bed, pop the lock ring, disconnect fuel lines and wiring and pull the bucket out. The fuel pumps are only held in by the rubber hose feeding up to the top of the fuel bucket...took me about 30 minutes per tank on my '87 TBI 454...
